How Congress Spends Your Money
The following graphs depict the ever growing appetite of our government.
These graphs will clearly demonstrate the out of control growth of government, the question is why? The answer is obvious – to buy as many votes as possible to stay in office.
This process began with FDR’s “reign” as president. With each term he was re-elected he expanded the Executive Branch of the government. And with his expansion of the Executive Branch came Congress’ expansion, constant growth and with that followed burdensome taxation and moronic federal spending that did more to expand government than serve the people.
And now with the presence of career politicians, the integrity necessary to make hard honest choices to best serve the American people now and in the future is lost – hopefully not for ever!
Enough editorializing – you make your own decisions!
Total Federal Government Spending. At the rate of spending our government will soon far outspend our total domestic production (GDP) – Then What?
Well at least we know they know how to decrease our tax burden, problem is they can’t sustain it for more than 4 years. (notice 2000 to 2004)

Hey, with the ever expanding growth of government why not give them the best, most expensive healthcare – oh, by the way tax-payers – you foot the bill! Comment: This chart looks like a skateboard ramp…Zooom!! The problem is we the taxpayers are the ones doing the back-flips and summersaults off this ramp…to try to pay for it. And guess what folks…it’s only going to get worse now that there is a higher level of federal involvement in the healthcare system. What “program” ever has the federal government managed efficiently? Simple answer: None! This graph is a train-wreck in the making.

Can you say Amtrak, the Big Dig, and other pet programs like bridges to nowhere, but hey looking at the graph things seem to working – RIGHT?

Federal tax dollars have so improved our children’s education that we “ain’t” even close to the top 10 most intelligent countries.

What if each of us ran our personal household budget this way? Comment: This graph is just freakishly scary. Why? Because it clearly shows the rampant, out of control growth and spending on the part of total government… mostly the federal government. We as taxpayers are not only subject to the feds taxes, but state and local governments as well…remember…we pay taxes at several levels of government. These are real numbers…and while it is difficult to comprehend what trillions of dollars of deficit spending means, one thing is obvious…it is unsustainable! We are unfairly handing our children and future generations a horrendously burdensome ugly mortgage. The national debt is currently soaring at a mind-numbing rate…adding about a million dollars to itself every 30 seconds! Think about it….then as a citizen, demand that it change!

I’m not pointing fingers, but I wonder who was in office in 2008 with the sky-rocketing increase? It DOUBLED in 2 years! Comment: People were complaining about the cost of welfare 30 years ago…because at that time it seemed to be escalating at an ever increasing rate. That concern is almost laughable now…Just look at the last 15 years…it’s almost tripled! This brings to mind an important quote: “A government big enough to give you everything you want…is strong enough to take everything you have…” And this is where we are headed folks.

Interesting to note that before 1946 Congress and the President didn’t need a pension from the government – they could EARN it within the private sector. But now it is out of control!

The government is so out of control that they doubled the Federal deficit from 2008 to 2010 and mortgaged our children’s future. It should be criminal!

No doubt heading in the wrong direction, but at least this is an area that the founding father deemed the responsibility of the Federal Government. Comment: One of the primary roles of the federal government is certainly providing for our national defense. This graph depicts a steady escalation for several decades…then a step-change over the last decade. This is obviously due to the Iraq, Afghanistan conflics and their associated costs…but again… where does it end? We still have to pay the tab and it just keeps getting worse. Some things to consider: 1) Defense spending has risen to its highest level since WWII, even after adjusting for inflation. 2) The base defense budget increased at 7-8 percent a year over the last eight years. 3) With war funding included, the defense budget has more than doubled since 2001. 4) With large deficits and tight budgets, spending at this level will be difficult to sustain. This along with all the other out of control spending paints the same picture….and it’s not a pretty picture at all!

Can you say “PORK”. Just another means of the government interjecting itself into the lives of American citizens to make them more dependant and therefore have greater control.

How is it that if any of us kept accumulated greater debt year in and year out people would say, “your not being responsible and eventually will be bankrupt!”, so how is it ok for our government – the keeper of our children’s future.

Health & Human Services (Medicare & Medicaid) and Social Security Administration are both entitlement programs which are expanding at a non-sustainable rate. Our Founding Fathers didn’t design our government to be all things for all people.
